Leifeng Spirit Deeply Rooted

乔田珍

Good morning, everyone!

Yesterday afternoon, General Gao Xuemin gave a lecture to senior1 and senior 2 students about Leifeng spirit in the new period. In his lecture, he mentioned we should regard “learn from Leifeng”as a regular activity not once-in-a-while event. Last September, Chairman Xi visited Leifeng Museum in Fushun, stressing that Leifeng spirit should be carried forward in the new era. Tomorrow will be the China Youth Volunteer Service Day and it is also called the day to learn from Leifeng. Since 2000, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League has established the traditional Chinese LeiFeng activity day in March 5th every year as the “Chinese Youth Volunteer Service Day”.

Today volunteer service is becoming more and more popular in our country. The volunteering spirit has spread among the Chinese people in recent years, especially among the young. Volunteering is of great benefits to both those in need and society. They are often willing to offer help in hospitals, orphanages or homes for the aged. They read books to the people in poor places or they just visit them or listen to their problems. Other young volunteers go and work in the homes of people who are sick or old. They clean up or repair houses, do their shopping and mow their lawns. At the same time, volunteers are exposed to a new environment, and they can learn how to work well in a team; how to improve their interpersonal skills and organizational skills, all of which are critical for their professional growth.

By the end of November last year, a relatively complete organization system came into being since the youth volunteer associations were set up in all the provinces, autonomous regions, and cities,in 2763 counties, county-level cities, city districts as well as in over 2000 colleges and universities and 130,000 volunteer service stations were set up, too. In addition, 40.43 million youth volunteers were registered. It is roughly calculated that the registered volunteers offered the services of about 690 million hours to the society last year.

Since 2003, our school has paid special attention to community service. Each student is required to offer services each term. And our graduates get actively involved with social activities, among whom Wangxin, Pandingguo are the representatives. Not only did they involve themselves in the volunteer activities in the university but they chose to work on it after graduation. They both set a good example to us. As students in senior high, maybe you don’t have enough time to do voluntary work but at least you should have the consciousness of helping those in need. Just as Chairman Xi said, we need to make Leifeng spirit deeply rooted in our heart.

That’s all. Thanks for your listening.

Teamwork Really Matters

高三1班刘茁

Good morning, my dear teachers and fellow schoolmates.

My topic today is teamwork.

It is quite often that we are not able to complete a job or a task on our own. We also encounter tough problems beyond our ability. In those situations, we need others’ help or assistance and teamwork is the best way. Working in teams is an approach to achieving certain tasks, fulfill responsibilities. While it can be challenging for different personal types to work together to achieve a common goal, there are considerable benefits.

One of the main benefits of group work is sharing ideas or brainstorms. When discussing the most efficient or best plan, team members can weigh their options and find the best fit.

Another key advantage of group work is that it can increase productivity and efficiency. Group work also helps us meet individual and team goals more quickly because more people are committed.

Furthermore, working in a team not only helps to showcase people's various strengths, but also areas of weaknesses. This means that every worker is matched to a job based on skills and talents, helping to create a stronger and more skilled workforce.

Additionally, team members support one another and adapt to each other's styles so it is a process to socialize and an effective way to establish or extend our personal relationships.

The team also helps build confidence and motivation. When interpersonal relationships flourish, members tend to feel more loyal to the team and are more willing to be devoted. China has an old saying, "Unity is strength". What we gain from teamwork is not only self-improvement, personal success but also the sense of satisfaction.

As teamwork is increasingly important in modern society, no one could live individually, we have to rely on each other in one way or another. Therefore, let’s just be willing to join a team and improve our teamwork skills.

That’s all. Thanks for your listening.
